Join Sundowner Cruises on a pre-dinner Sunset Cruise around Pioneer Bay, followed by wonderful meal at Sorrento Restaurant and Bar. Situated just 100m from the dock where Sundowner departs from, Sorrento’s is a friendly Italian restaurant with a delicious menu of Italian-inspired dishes. Welcoming couples and groups alike, if you book the Cruise & Dine experience, we will book an individual table to suit, whether you are wanting a romantic dinner for two or are part of a small group* celebrating a special occasion.

A glass of sparkling or soft drink is included in your sunset cruise ticket price, and the bar is open throughout the cruise for you to purchase further drinks. Cash or card welcome. Sorry, no BYO.
Sundowner departs from Coral Sea Marina, North Village, which is only a short walk from the main street of Airlie Beach. Coral Sea Marina is a vibrant award winning marina which includes the Garden Bar & Bistro with uninterrupted views across the marina and Sorrento’s Restaurant & Bar located alongside the boardwalk in the North Village.
We circumnavigate Pioneer Bay and as we have very little draft we are able are able to get up close and personal to the many points of interest along the Airlie Beach coastline, and enjoy a bit of turtle spotting in Turtle Bay. After the sun sets, enjoy the lights of Airlie Beach at night, while we slowly make our way back to port.

Sorrento Restaurant and Bar
Warm and friendly atmosphere just a short 2 minute stroll from Sundowner’s jetty. Delicious, freshly prepared food, outstanding cocktails and a hand picked boutique wine list can all be enjoyed whilst overlooking the beautiful Coral Sea Marina. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. A separate table is booked for each Cruise & Dine booking, so please advise us if you are travelling with others on a separate booking.
Cruise and Dine Package Includes:
- 2 hour sunset cruise, a glass of bubbles on arrival and nibbles platter, and
- A cocktail of your choice upon arrival at Sorrento Restaurant and Bar
- Two course meal: choose either entree and main, or main and dessert from the Cruise & Dine Menu

Kids may join you at the restaurant, but must purchase a separate kids cruise ticket with kids meals paid direct to the restaurant. Infants must also have a (free) cruise ticket, and please advise if you intend to bring a pram.
Sundowner is a purpose built catamaran with a spacious open plan entertaining area that can accommodate 48 passengers comfortably. She is very stable, making her perfect for those who may not have their sea legs or may be a little unsteady on their feet.
Sundowner is a fully licensed floating bar, designed for socialising. The flat layout has high and low seating, a high table, one toilet, the bar, and plenty of room for walking around (or dancing!).
Guests can come aboard dressed for dinner and ladies are welcome to leave their heels on.

Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday islands provide the perfect back drop for our sunset cruises, as well as our other cruises including private charters for birthdays, corporate groups, weddings or any celebration.
While Sundowner the company and concept has been creating wonderful memories for many guests for more than 15 years in Airlie Beach, the vessel herself has been operating in the Whitsundays for over 25 years.
Originally built at Sea World on the Gold Coast for use as a floating camera platform for the making of a movie, it was brought to Hamilton Island by developer Keith Williams. She was refitted and extended, and was then put to work ferrying Hamilton Island guests to Dent Island and of course Sunset Cruising.
After a few years it was taken over by the Harvey Family, owner/operators of Hamilton Island Water Sports who developed if further and made it a great family favourite. Twenty odd years later it was brought to Airlie Beach where she worked as a backpacker party boat for another couple of years before being put out to pasture on a mooring in Pioneer Bay.
Jeremy and Nicole Graham took ownership of her in 2006 from their friends, the Harveys, and after 11 months in refit, and a lot of blood sweat and tears, the Polynesian war canoe was transformed into Sundowner.
“It is the atmosphere that we have created we are most proud of – social like an old English pub. We welcome and chat to our guests as if they were in our home.” said Jeremy.
